AN EXAMPLE OF DEDICATION
In 1950, when an appropriate building to house the church was offered for sale for 55,000 dollars, most of the constituency of the Los Angeles Church, particularly the Issei, felt that the cost was too prohibitive. As Hide Okada, a Los Angeles Holiness Church member, earnestly prayed about this matter, God revealed to her that she was to give five hundred dollars toward the building fund. Obviously she didn't have that kind of money, so she borrowed it from the credit union. When the people learned that a poor widow like Hide Okada was willing to give five hundred dollars, several board members and others were moved to give amounts of one thousand and two thousand dollars. God used Hide Okada as a catalyst to raise the necessary funds to purchase an edifice for His glory! In three years, the mortgage was paid on the present-day Los Angeles Church sanctuary (The Okada Brothers 1979:73-74).
