GEORGE YAHIRO
According to Ugo Nakada in the Reisei, at the end of 1920 at the age of twenty-five, Yahiro experienced both salvation and the holiness experience (Nakada 1963:328). He had been seeking the Lord earnestly for the past three years. Prior to his salvation, Yahiro lived as if he were an atheist: he considered himself good enough to be saved without the help of God or Buddha or any other spiritual power. But when his business failed, he realized that he needed God’s help. Soon God led him to the Japanese Church in Whittier, which became the turning point in his life.

For the next three years, unable to understand the Lord, Yahiro did not regularly attend the church meetings. One day God revealed Yahiro’s sins to him; through the power of the Spirit, Yahiro knew he was destined for hell. One night, realizing that there was but one way to be saved which was to come to Christ, he sought out Ugo Nakada and asked for prayer. God gave him the power to seek release from all of his sins and the assurance of salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. It was the beginning of his new life.
